Salsa dancing burns calories

Experts agree that dancing salsa can burn up to 10 calories per minute. But best of all, salsa dancing is easy to do. It’s an excellent workout exercise that combines aerobic and anaerobic training.

Let me explain the difference between the two…

Aerobic – Specifically refers to the use of the same large muscle group, rhythmically, for a period of 15 to 20 minutes or longer while maintaining 60-80% of your maximum heart rate. Basically it’s doing an activity for a long period of time at low intensity. Activities using aerobic exercise include jogging, swimming, walking, biking and cross-country skiing.

Anaerobic - Anaerobic activity refers to activities that are short in duration and high in intensity. Some anaerobic activities include: weight lifting, sprinting, racquetball, downhill skiing, softball, soccer and football. Its high intensity and works the muscles quickly and rigorously.

Aerobic refers to air or oxygen. To easily remember the difference between aerobic and anaerobic exercise just think that since aerobic is air or oxygen, that these types of activities should allow you to speak while performing the activity without gasping for air. If you are gasping for air during your activity you are most likely working anaerobically – which means faster, harder and at a higher intensity.

The continual movement of the salsa dance style steadily burns calories but also tones the body – most specifically the legs. But not only does it tone the body but it also adds strength to muscles without the high impact of most other exercises like weight training or running.

Salsa is also an excellent exercise choice because it combines individual dance routines that can also be paired up with a partner. Actually, salsa dancing can be practiced alone and then adding a partner for added excitement. The social charm that partnered salsa dancing has is very appealing.

A night of dancing is an excellent workout. If you are just learning to salsa dance you most likely will be working anaerobically. But as you advance to quicker salsa movements that are more complex like the professional salsa dancers twirling through the air with jumps and intense spins requiring strength, you will most likely be working your body anaerobically. This means that your muscles are working at a high intensity level.

In general, salsa dancing is an excellent workout. You’ll get fit, more toned and look better but also have fun while you’re doing it! Start joining the salsa craze now by visiting salsadancedvd. com

Treats for your halloween tricksters

If you are planning a Halloween party of any type, there is a good chance that food will be involved. However, with Halloween being a night of creeps and spooks, you might want to get a little more creative than the typical chips and dip. Here are some ideas for how to incorporate the themes of the season and the holiday into your kitchen.

Seasonal foods

Halloween comes at the end of fall, a time when there are plenty of fresh harvest items to enjoy. You can incorporate these into your Halloween dining for fresh, (and often inexpensive) delights.

One of the favorite Halloween traditions is the carving of the Jack-o-lantern. And as anyone who has ever carved a pumpkin knows, the glowing creation on your front steps on Halloween night leaves behind a pile of slimy pumpkin guts. However, you can use this pumpkin flesh to create delicious treats. Pumpkin cooks up well into pies, cookies, muffins, and soups that you can serve for your Halloween meal. And seasoned and roasted pumpkin seeds are a popular snack. You can always experiment with flavors to create your own delicious versions.

Another bountiful harvest item around Halloween is the apple. Apples work great fresh, candied, and baked into cakes, muffins, and pies. And of course there is always applesauce! If you are in need of some game ideas for your Halloween party, bobbing for apples has always been a long time favorite.

Other Treats

Of course, your ghouls and goblins are probably not thinking about healthy fruit when they are donning Halloween costumes. For many, Halloween is as much about the candy as it is about getting to dress up. So you will want to have plenty of sweet treats on hand as well.

Cookies are always a favorite with kids of all ages. You can use your favorite cookie dough flavor, and then shape it into fun Halloween shapes using cookie cutters. Bats, ghosts, and jack-o-lanterns/pumpkins all work well for shaped cookies. Or, you can choose to decorate your favorite cookies using orange, black, and white frosting and/or sprinkles. If you are pressed for time, pre-shaped holiday cookies are often available at your local grocer.

If you are looking for another treat idea, popcorn is always fun. You can take your favorite popcorn ball recipe and fashion ghosts instead of balls. Add a few pieces of candy for eyes and a mouth, and you have a fun treat. Or, put fresh-popped popcorn into disposable plastic gloves, with a piece of candy at the finger tip, to create monster hands.

Getting creative

You can always turn your kid's favorite foods into Halloween dishes with a little creativity. Food coloring can turn ordinary foods into creepy monster dishes. Decorate cupcakes with licorice legs and candy eyes to create spiders. Or simply get a little creative with how you serve everyday items to design your own spooky feast.

With a little work and a little creativity, you can come up with your own Halloween treats for your little tricksters.

Options for buying world series tickets

It’s that time of the year again - baseball fever is spreading like wildfire, and tickets are selling faster than hotdogs. So, your team is playing, and you have to be there. What are your options for buying World Series tickets before there are none left to buy?

First – the traditional method. Pick up the phone and try to purchase tickets from the team during the scheduled sale period. The bad news, of course, is that these tickets usually sell out within 30 minutes flat. Solution? If the ticket agency or team provides multiple phone numbers to call, get all your friends and family organized to call as many times as possible across the multiple numbers.

Another way of getting your hands on those precious tickets is to identify those among your network of contacts (friends, family members or coworkers) who are season ticket holders for one of the teams. Season ticket holders usually get an option to buy tickets at the face value price. See, it pays to keep in touch!

Alternately, you can surf the Internet. Log on to the tickets section of the team's website – but let’s be honest, hoping that the team is going to have tickets on sale is a total shot in the dark.

Besides the team website, other sites, such as Tickets 4 U, offer World Series tickets. This is how it works - season ticket holders who, for whatever reason, are not able to make it to the game, post their tickets for sale on the site. As a result, these sites often sell the best seats in the house. Of course, playoff tickets don’t come cheap. But you can also find tickets for more affordable sections on these sites.

And then there are always the ticket broker websites from where you can purchase tickets. Your ticket may be just a google click away.

A word of caution – please do buy tickets ONLY from reputable agents / brokers / intermediaries. You don’t want to buy a ticket and then not get to see the game because what you bought was a scam ticket (yes it does happen), do you?

So how does reputable translate on the net? In webspace, the site that you are conducting the transaction with should be secure, first of all. Second of all, they should have a past history that vouches for their integrity in dealings with customers. Tip - a seal of approval from the Better Business Bureau, Verisign or other such authorities is a good sign.

Remember – if you buy your World Series tickets well in advance of the game (before opponents are finalized), there is a good chance of getting tickets at better prices. At this point the demand for tickets will be lower so the chances of finding exactly the seat you want from a site like Tickets 4 U is all the better.

Beach shorts explained

Beach shorts are a special kind of shorts that are designed to get wet. They are not swimming shorts, but they are not normal shorts either – they are a special kind of shorts designed to look like normal shorts, but at the same time designed to get wet with seawater and dry quickly with no ill effects.

They are generally made of materials like lycra, flannel or nylon, which are chosen to be quick-drying but not too warm. They’re a good alternative to trunks, and are often considered both more fashionable, especially among young men, as well as more modest in that they don’t reveal so much. However, some shorts still come with a trunks-like structure on the inside, to offer the support of trunks while still giving the look of shorts.

Although most people only wear beach shorts when they’re going to the beach, it is common for people who live in beach towns to wear beach clothes all the time, in case they happen to feel like going to the beach one day. This is quite easy to spot when you walk around one of these towns, and can make you wonder whether everyone is on their way to the beach!

Beach shorts aren’t just for standing around in the sea, though – they’re also just fine for wearing on the beach itself, and surfers often use them as well. Surfers have to make sure to use good shorts, however, as cheap ones are prone to coming off when you hit the water hard.

One word, though: Hawaii-style beach shorts aren’t fashionable, and hopefully never will be again, so just don’t. Stay away from the big, unsightly patterns in your beach shorts, and go for plain colours instead. Trust me, you won’t regret it. It’s also worth mentioning that you should probably go for dark colours rather than light ones, as light colours can become see through when they get very wet, and chlorine from swimming pools you use them in can make colours fade.

Learning to bowl from e-books

There are many ways to learn how to bowl. The best way to learn is by going to a bowling alley and learning from an instructor who is knowledgeable about the sport. The rules and equipment used has changed rapidly over the years. The easiest way to get current updates is not from textbooks but through E-books.

Electronic books or e-books provide information on many topics. By becoming a member of one of these E-book sites via the internet, the user will be able to learn everything about bowling.

For those doing research such as the origin of this sport, countless data is available from the time it was first invented by the Egyptians in 3200 BC up to the present. It has evolved into a variety of games depending on the number of pins. The only thing that remains the same is that whoever can knock down the greatest number of pins wins.

Some people think that the regular rubber soled shoes bought at the shoe store can also used for bowling. Though that may be true, it only works well for those that don't play often. E-books will show that a shoe made specifically for bowling is much better since it gives better traction with the floor and therefore, a better shot.

The normal way of bowling is simply releasing it straight and using the markers as a guide to get a strike. Professional bowlers rarely do that in the start of a frame and prefer to use a hook shot. E-books show illustrations and texts that will explain how this is done so that the player can learn to do the same.

There are different styles of holding the ball. By reading it in detail then working on it, the beginner will learn the skills to become an excellent bowler in no time. Many companies manufacture bowling balls made of different materials. E-books can help the player choose which one to use to achieve success.

Bowling is a game that involves hand and eye coordination. By perfecting the style that works best and being consistent in doing it for the next 9 frames, there is nothing that will prevent the player from scoring well.

E-books are not just for beginners in bowling. They can be used by anyone who still wants to know more about the sport to improve their game. A lot of good advice can be obtained from the internet, all it takes is sitting down in front of the computer and letting the "fingers do the walking".
